Bell Ringer – London, Dilston Grove 2011 and Romney marsh Kent 2010
Buildings (both Churches) measured and sound installations made entirely from frequencies that relate back to the dimensions of the room composed and installed.
Various sonic anomalies manifest for the audiences to experience, Due to the hot/cold spots caused by the refracting standing waves of sound the audience are able to make there own version of the sound by moving within the space.
What I learned in making these installations has become key to my approach of using sound in space ever since.
I invited Sweden’s Su-en (a butoh dancer) to perform in my installation at Dilston Grove and accompanied her with a live improvised piece made from standing waves.
Especial thanks to Ron Henoq at Dilston Grove and to Susan at AiRM.
